Of course we had to check out demo day at the Amsterdam VR days. Anything new?
As usual, many 360 films were presented as VR, including a cool
VR 360 cam drone and a beautiful VR 360 dolphin film. A tennis coach explained how tennis players can learn from – many times – experiencing impossible scenes in VR. The most beautiful was the work of the Art of Corner VR studio from France.
Although this ‘VR Drone’ is actually a ‘360 film drone’ its footage in flight was beautifully sharp and stable. Verdict: it’s a 360-drone that can deliver nice backdrops for actual VR experiences.
VR Racing is as old as arcade halls – just with screens instead of a headset – but this Sparco VR racing kit was cool! Verdict: not so new but cool!
I didn’t experience the 360 dolphin film, strongly put of by the allergenic use of the word ‘healing’ in its promotion, but will try next time. And again, 360 film, not VR. Who knows what looking at swimming dolphins can do. Verdict: good quality film (try in 4K), don’t try to heal me, yet.
